Job Summary

Reporting to the Head of Development, you will be working within a team of highly experienced developers who are engaged in ensuring consistent product functionality and enhancing the Akixi application to ensure it stays at the forefront of the field.

This role will give you an opportunity to develop your software engineering career – you will be given responsibility to contribute to the development of the product, the opportunity for fast personal development as an individual, exposure to multiple technological areas of our product, in addition to tailored training and mentoring.

This role would be suitable for a recent computer science or electronic engineering graduate with a strong academic background and an intense passion for computer programming and web application development.

You must be able to demonstrate a keen interest in computer science as well as in-depth algorithm and data structures, and show a strong desire to develop further in the role.

Technical capability, confidence in your ability and future potential will be key to being successful and you will enjoy being part of a friendly team in this dynamic industry.

  • Full software lifecycle involvement in enhancing our web application, e.g. designing, coding, and maintaining server-side components in Java
  • Client-side JavaScript component development
  • Run and maintain test scenarios, in addition to addressing defects
  • Full participation in our Agile software development activities, i.e. daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and backlog creation activities
  • Write supporting design and technical documentation

  • Good A level results, including grade B or above in Physics or Maths
  • 1st or Upper 2nd class degree in computer science, physics or electronic engineering
  • Multi-threaded server-side web application development using Java
  • Projects developed using an OOP language such as C++ or Java
  • Good English communication skills, verbal and written

  • Use of HTML, CSS, JavaScript to create client-side dynamic web page content
  • Linux configuration and administration skills
  • Linux Shell scripting knowledge
  • Knowledge of databases and SQL
  • Knowledge of source control practices (merging, branching, etc.)
